A gift to the RHA remembers Ramsey’s Little Symphony

On occasion the RHA receives gifts that pertain to Ramsey history. This April we received a wonderful collection including a scrapbook from Terry Sirota, whose grandfather was conductor of Ramsey’s “Little Symphony”. Terry’s mother Caroline was the piano soloist.

The orchestra was active in the early 1930’s playing at Ramsey H.S. with concerts in Suffern, Paterson and an outdoor concert held at Erskine Lake on July 4th 1932, attended by several thousand people.

Mr. Levane went on to play bass violin for 25 years with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
